The second international wooden furniture fair of Algeria (Algeria Woodtech) will be organized by event company CGCOM EVENT from September 18 to 21, 2023 at the Pins Maritimes Exhibition Fair Palace, capital Algiers.

In 2012, the event attracted the participation of 60 companies from Turkey, China, India, Pakistan, Tunisia, Portugal, Italy, Germany, etc. and thousands of visitors from domestic and foreign businesses.
The event is an opportunity for businesses and investors to establish trade partnerships and promote import and export items in the fields of wood, wooden furniture, technology and related equipment.
Algeria does not plant forests, so it must import wood and wooden furniture to serve domestic production and consumption. Each year, this country buys about 700,000 tons of wood, of which 200,000 tons are used to produce wooden furniture. In addition, Algeria also needs to buy 4,000 square meters of plywood (plywood) and raw MDF industrial wood.
Wood is imported from 38 countries including Tunisia, Turkey, North Korea, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Lebanon, Finland, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria and Cameroon.
For wooden furniture from countries that have not signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Algeria, when imported into this country, they are subject to a 30% import tax (in addition to 19% VAT, 2% withholding tax and solidarity tax). community 2%). For raw wood, the import tax is 5%, for pre-processed wood and laminated wood, the import tax is 15%.
Wooden furniture imported from Europe has its import tax reduced to 15% and VAT to 9% within the framework of the Algeria – EU Free Trade Agreement.
